Yet again A.D Ellis has woven a tale that this reader could NOT put down! As is her custom, Ms. Ellis brings us a whole new world in the shape of a small town called Briarton, and introduces us to Justin and Morgan. When Mr. Sunshine Yet Desperate (Justin) meets Mr. Reserved And Determined, it is “the perfect blend” of sweet and salty.As is usual with her books, the author builds a world where we all of us would like to live and introduces us to people, both main and supporting characters, with whom we would very much like to develop a friendship. This reader is very much looking forward to more from Briarton and Ms. Ellis! I can promise you that, if you are anything like me, you’ll love this book! Wow! It pains me to leave such a bad review for a book by this author as I’ve enjoyed almost everything else that I’ve read by her. This book frustrated me in the extreme with the implausibility of the storyline and the complete disregard for logic. I’m normally a fan of a fake marriage trope, but there were more holes in this than Swiss cheese. Here are just a few for starters: Justin announces that he and Morgan are engaged when he has literally known him for only five minutes. How does he know Morgan is not already publicly involved with another partner? How does he expect to pull this off in what is repeatedly referred to as a small town? Why would Morgan go through with this when there is absolutely no incentive for him from a fake marriage? How can supposedly really smart businessmen show up to buy a business without having had partnership contracts, company or LLC papers, tax id numbers, or business accounts set up by their own attorney? Especially after how Justin was ripped off by his ex?!? Not to mention an agreement for the dissolution of the marriage and business partnership. I’m no lawyer or business owner, just a reasonably intelligent person, and even I know that these things are nonnegotiable when starting or buying a business. I could go on and on with all of the troubles that I had with this book, but it would depress me even more. That being said, the writing itself was good and I still plan on checking out the next book in this series.
